Overview
Since 1988, advocates in North Carolina have banded together in each even
year to share information on public policy issues apt to come before the next
session of the General Assembly. Their efforts have result in a "Draft
Women's Agenda" published in late summer as an educational tool.
These issues are then discussed at "Women's Agenda Assemblies" across
the state, and the participants in those discussions are invited to share
their conclusions at Women's Advocacy Day during the Legislature's long session.
NC Women United has sponsored these events since 2002; from 1988 to 2000,
they were administered by NC Equity under an agreement with the North Carolina
Women's Legislative Agenda, the precursor to NCWU.

Information about 2008 Assemblies
Our first will be in Guilford County on August 23rd and we have over ten more
already planned in counties from Buncombe to Carteret! Please support
your local agenda assemblies by attending, speaking, facilitating, and recruiting
a diversity of women in your community to attend. This is one of the
best examples of the democratic process in North Carolina, where all women
can share their views and vote on their priorities on the most important issues
our government should address related to women today - it is open to ALL women,
regardless of age, race, religion, class, language, sexual orientation, job
status, and political party. PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL AGENDA ASSEMBLY!
To sign up to host an assembly in your county or to see if one is already
